what we believe
We believe that the Bible is God’s Word.
It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our everyday lives.
We believe in One Eternal God who is the Creator of all things.
He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe that God is totally loving and completely holy.
We believe that sin separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives,
but in Jesus Christ the way has been opened to restore us back to our original purpose.
To come into the fullness of purpose, we must accept Jesus Christ as Lord, and allow His finished work at the cross to be applied for our salvation.
God has made His Truth & Grace available to us through Jesus Christ. It is the message we proclaim.
We must allow Him to work the work in us. There is nothing we can do to earn our salvation. It is all the work of Grace [God’s unmerited favor].
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, as both God and Man, is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory and empower us for life.
We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and the ‘new birth’ we must repent (change our minds) about God, renounce our sins, our wrong beliefs and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, confess His Lordship over us, and submit to His will for our lives.
We believe that in order to live the holy and fruitful lives that God intends for us, we need to be baptized in water as a sign of our acceptance, and be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to use the various spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues, prophesying, discernment, and other Charismatic Gifts.
We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together for fellowship, prayer and the ‘breaking of bread’. We partake of the Communion consistently and regularly.
We believe that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives which is to worship God, fulfill our role in the Church and serve the community in which we live.
We believe that God wants to heal and transform us so that we can live healthy and blessed lives in order to help others more effectively.
We believe we must teach, exhort, preach, and study the Word of God as a community of believers, and we are to share the Good News of His Grace with the World.
We believe that our eternal destination is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised. He will receive His church to Himself - and in time will draw the nations.
We believe in and support Israel as a people God raised to fulfill purpose. We therefore pray peace for the nation, and for it’s capital Jerusalem, we pray for the salvation of the Jews.
We carry the nations in our hearts, and pray for the deliverance of many souls worldwide.
We pray for the church of Jesus Christ worldwide, especially those who are being persecuted.
We believe in tithing, sowing, and the giving of freewill offerings.
Spirit and Truth is registered in Barbados under the Charities Act as a “Registered Charity” under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
We are non-denominational in structure, and are considered an "Independent" church [meaning: not tied to a denomination]
We believe in the supernatural manifestations and miracles- healing, deliverance, etc. but minus the fanfare and drama usually associated with such.
We operate in the 5-fold ministry – apostolic, prophetic, evangelical, pastoral, and teaching. We believe that Jesus Christ is the foundation and the bedrock of our ministry.
We believe that praise, prayer, thanksgiving and worship are fundamental to the Christian walk, and so we are strong on this aspect in our times of gathering.
Wherever possible, or when we are so directed, we meet and associate with other members of the Body of Christ.
We believe in shared ministry, and encourage others besides the pastors to teach and preach.
